“I’ve heard well-meaning, zealous dietitians insist that humans require plants for gut health. These same individuals often recommend a daily, over the counter probiotic.
Clinical trials show that increased fiber intake (plants) 🌱 DOES NOT show increased microbial alpha diversity in the GI tract.
Also, studies with low fiber, ketogenic diet 🥩🥓DO NOT decrease alpha diversity in the GI tract.
The most important step in creating a healthy microbiome is removing the sugar, refined carbohydrates, and seed oils in the diet.
We cannot put a salad or a pill on an inflamed, damaged GI tract and expect positive results.
